Corporate Parties – Summer is Best Served on the Terrace
July 4, 2018Get Creative and Make your Corporate Party Memorable.
August 2, 2018I know, I know! We’ve said it before and we will no doubt say it again before the summer is over. The dreaded C-word has been let out of the bag. No, I don’t mean the cat; although mine is certainly something to be dreaded. We mean Christmas of course. Every year, venues get booked up for Christmas parties earlier and earlier, so despite our contempt for mentioning Christmas while we are nicely cooking in the summer sunshine, it is important to get your foot in the door while there’s still room at the Inn. Yes, I have been waiting since last Christmas to use that little joke.
Now it’s time to suspend your disbelief for a moment and imagine that Christmas is already here. Let’s all get into the spirit of things and think about all the little Christmas perks that make it a great time of year.
Christmas Parties
How many Christmas parties did you attend last year? Let’s not forget that there are the usual family gatherings, friends reconnecting and works parties being thrown all over the place. But there is always a few extra added in there too when you get invited as a plus one for your serious other or for a friend looking for an evening companion. Christmas is the best time of year to let your hair down and give yourself fully to the festive spirit. Maybe there is even a few Christmas weddings or anniversaries being celebrated at this time of year, how romantic! Whatever the case, we just love spreading some Christmas cheer and parties are the most enjoyable way to see out the end of one year and bring in the next.
Christmas Traditions
Does your office have a tradition at Christmas that they include every year? For all of December or for that ‘one night only’ Christmas party. No matter where or how they celebrate?
Secret Santa’s are top of the list for most corporate Christmas parties, but there are many more weird and wonderful Christmas traditions floating around out there; and not always limited to the final knees-up before the Christmas break. Some offices might send out christmas cards, whereas others will donate to charitable causes instead. This is one of my favourite traditions and becoming increasingly popular. Others may spend the entirety of December with their staff wearing sparkling and festive Christmas outfits whilst subjecting everyone to a repeating playlist of Christmas tunes across the office loudspeakers. Okay, I think I suspended my disbelief enough already! The thought of that is making me internally cringe!
What about bringing a little bit of your home traditions into the office? Stockings, advent calendars, pin the tail on the boss! Whatever traditions have survived your workplace or your corporate Christmas party every year, you will always be happy to see them again this year. That is until the end of December when we can’t wait to pack it all away again!
Christmas and Alcohol – They’re the Same Word right?
Well, this is one of the best parts of Christmas. Whether you drink yourself to sleep after a huge Christmas Dinner or spend the whole of your Christmas break (and beyond) in a permanent jolly state; not many people will turn their nose up at a little bit of mulled wine or Baileys over Ice. Or what about those Christmas favourites from years gone by; Snowballs and Babysham. Christmas time brings about a fantastic variety of drinks that we then spend the rest of the year trying to avoid at all costs. Usually due to our over-indulgence during the festive period. But still, along with waiting to see what my secret santa has bought me this year, this is my favourite thing about Christmas. But let’s reserve the Christmas classics for the ‘one month only’.
Christmas food
Now, I’m not just talking about a big slap up Christmas dinner here! I’m talking about candy canes and chocolates and marshmallows floating in your hot chocolate. Christmas is the time when everyone overindulges and we really don’t care! Sod the diet, we just can’t enjoy Christmas without a few little naughties!
Christmas Scenery
Everywhere you turn, every shop window and every house you pass by whilst running your December errands. Everywhere. Christmas trees, lights, automated Santa figures waving a merry Ho Ho Ho at you. Festive decorations are everywhere and we absolutely adore them! At The Chapel Bar we really like to make an impression at our Christmas parties and on our guests. Twinkling lights and mistletoe garlands adorn the venue, with just enough festive decorations sprinkled around to make you feel at home. Of course we don’t overdo things, but we certainly like to feel like it’s Christmas when we walk through the doors!
There is so many more things to enjoy about Christmas, but I’ll save those for another day! Look out for all the amazing Christmas experiences going on around London this year. We will keep you updated later in the year on some of the best!
