Why You Should Throw a Corporate Party BEFORE Christmas
August 14, 20175 things you should probably do this week
October 24, 2017So many people bemoan the arrival of their birthday as a sign they’re getting older, but we’re firm believers that every single birthday should be celebrated – whether you’re turning five or 95. What better way to celebrate stumbling rocking your way through another 365 days of life than with a party you’ll remember (or, maybe, if things go really well, forget). And while you might think themed parties are just for kids, we’re here to tell you, there’s plenty of fun-filled themes for the older generations too.
Here are some of our fave birthday party themes for grown-ups:
Memory Lane
There’s no better time to take a trip down memory lane than on the anniversary of your birth. Get friends, family and loved ones to share their photos of you (and them) throughout the ages to adorn the walls of your party venue. Whether cute, embarrassing, cringe-worthy, things you’d rather forget or warm-fuzzy feeling reminders of good times gone by, these photos will make a talking point for all your guests. For better or worse.
Monochrome
Keep it simple with a classy black and white theme – everything from the decor to the dress-code and the food can fit this theme. For the food, imagine a chess board cake, Oreo snacks, finger sandwiches on rye bread and cupcakes, while chocolate martini’s, mudslides and White Russians should make up your drinks menu. Think white tuxedos for the dudes and cocktail dresses for the ladies, and keep all your decor on theme too with monochrome balloons, centrepieces – hell, you should even send out black and white invitations so your guests know the score from day dot.
Woodland wonder
Fancy a wander through a woodland wonderland to celebrate your birthday? Kit out your venue with natural accessories to create an ethereal theme that’d be lost on youngsters. Think logs, twigs, flowers, moss and candles. Use pretty blooms to create stunning centrepieces and adorn the whole venue with as many fairylights as you can muster.
Decade of birth
Embrace your age with a party celebrating the decade you were born. Whether it’s a bash themed around the Blitz, the swinging 60’s, the hedonism of the 70’s, big wigs and shoulder pads of the 80’s or the house and trance vibes of the 90’s, dedicate the music and the dress to the era you first graced the planet. Costumes should really be compulsory for this kind of bash – don’t let any party poopers ruin your special day by turning up in their regular garms.
Best of British
Britpop, London Calling, English Pub vibe, Great British Summer – all of these are sub categories within the massive theme idea of Best of British. There’s so much culture and heritage to be celebrated, there’s pretty much something to keep everyone happy. Relive your youth with the classic sounds of Blur, Pulp, Oasis and The Verve or bring The Big Smoke to your venue with an abundance of Union Jack flags and a range of city themed memorabilia.
Golden Age
Make like Goldfinger and get your venue dripping in gold. This is a super easy execution for maximum impact that’ll wow all of your guests. Gold food, gold decor, gold tablecloths – you can really go all out – but remember that a little bit of less is more is sensible here. Think tactful, not tacky.
Whatever theme you decide on, The Chapel Bar is the perfect venue for your birthday party and we’d be more than happy to help you celebrate. Not only that but we’re a dab hand when it comes to executing themes too…just sayin’. Give us a call on 020 7833 4090 to chat through.
