Your Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Wedding Venue
June 13, 2017Why You Should Throw a Corporate Party BEFORE Christmas
August 14, 2017Is it just us or were you guys all bowled over by the arrival of July too? How on earth are we halfway through 2017 already? One thing is for certain though, it seems like this year we’re actually getting a summer in London. As in hot weather during the relevant months, not in October as if the temperature Gods got mixed up and suddenly remembered they’d forgotten the Great British summer. And this weather has left us feeling pretty foot loose and fancy free – finding any reasons we can to take to the outdoors. If it’s having the same effect on you too, maybe you should think about throwing a party. We’ve gathered some of our best outdoor party themes to whet your appetite for your seasonal soiree.
Totally Tropical
So the good news is for a Tropical beach themed party, you don’t need to get your hands on a massive tonne of sand (does anyone else remember that episode of Don’t Tell the Bride?) – just a few simple accessories can transport you from Central London to your favourite coastal destination. Tropical decorative motifs can bring a touch of the Caribbean, and adding a beach bar will let your guests know exactly where you’re sending them to. Lauau hanging swirls are affordable decorations with big impact and these fun photo booth props will make quirky party favours for your guests. If you’re going all out an inflatable palm tree or two dotted around the place is pretty essential. And entertaining.
Tea Party
If you’re going a bit more upmarket with your theme, a classy shabby-chic tea party is always a lovely event. Think teacups and saucers (these paper ones are an affordable option!), ladylike cocktails such as Elderflower Bubbly and an abundance of flowers are essential (arrange them in cute and quirky vases around the venue). A candy bar can be a lovely touch too while floral bunting will set the tone perfectly. Opt for jam jars for cocktails and patterned plates for delicate finger sandwiches and delicious cakes. There are some lovely ideas for this theme on Party Pieces.
Hawaiian BBQ
Gather everyone for a big Hawaiian style cook out (we do smokin’ BBQ food, just as an FYI). Make outrageously loud shirts the dress code, forgo regular bunting in favour of tiki lanterns and spruce up your centrepieces with PINEAPPLES. Give your tables a Hawaiian makeover with a decorative skirt and serve up big portions of meat, fruity salads and check out this awesome Pinterest board for more recipe ideas. Though traditionally Mexican, you’d be forgiven for throwing a pinata up within this theme too.
Cocktail Cabana
It doesn’t take much to persuade us that cocktails should be the centre of attention at a summer soiree. In fact, any warm weather event worth its salt should have a few of these tipples on offer. Whether you opt for a massive bowl of punch, classy and chic champagne cocktails, or this year’s trend of Frose, if cocktails are the main theme of your event, it’s ESSENTIAL to ensure that you’re not going to run out. You’ll need an abundance to ensure that the masses don’t go thirsty. There’s even the option to theme within your theme – maybe throwback to the tastes of a bygone era with Mad Men style tipples or serve only cocktails with rude names. Whatever drinks you choose to serve, create a personalised cocktail menu and display with pride around the venue.
So. You’ve decided you want to make the most of a summer outdoor party theme. Now it’s just time to decide what you’re celebrating. And to find a venue. Luckily we can help with the latter. And for the former, who needs an excuse?
