I’m Dreaming of an Extra Special Christmas – 5 Gifts that Keep on Giving
December 2, 2018New Year is Here! Post-Christmas Blues and the Best Ways to Beat them
January 1, 2019Never have any regrets. A wise saying indeed. However, New Year 2019 is just around the corner and we can hardly believe this year has disappeared in the blink of an eye! So as we approach the second half of December it is time to start looking back over the past year and take a little time to think about the things we wish we could change for the coming year. Don’t regret, just adapt and evolve to be the best for YOU that you can be.
As we are also heading towards the shortest day of the year on the 21st December, we’ve got a lot of cosy indoor time on our hands and what better way to perk us up than to prepare our New Years Resolutions – but with a twist!
Usually New Years resolutions are all about giving up a bad habit or starting a new health regime. But it doesn’t have to be all about the socially acceptable ideals that we all strive to want to achieve. Those are all too often the first resolutions to be broken anyway. So this year we want you to think about resolving to improve the little things in life. Here are our ten new years resolution ideas to give you a brighter and happier new year 2019!
Spend More Time with Loved Ones
Visiting with family or friends should be something to make you smile and smiling has great health benefits too. Visit a lonely relative or spend some quality time with friends you haven’t seen for a while. Make time for and make memories with the ones you love and improve your overall health and happiness. Sure beats going to the Gym.
Make Time to Relax Every Day
Wow, this sounds too good to be true. But relaxing is a chance to recharge your batteries and heal from the stresses of your days. You could take a long bath, read a book or just sit in with a glass of chilled wine. It’s easy and your body will thank you for it.
Surprise Somebody
Well, this one isn’t strictly totally about you, but it will certainly make you feel warm inside. As long as your idea of a surprise is pleasant and doesn’t consist of practical jokes or scaring the living daylights out of people, you’re all good to go.
Travel
Whilst it isn’t practical to travel a lot when we’ve all got jobs and responsibilities to contend with, why not set aside some time to visit a place you’ve never been to before. It doesn’t need to be far away, it can just be something you’ve always fancied but never got round to doing. It could even be as simple as eating dinner in a new restaurant. Life is all about variety, so try new things this year. You might be surprised.
Look after YOU
Take a bit of time and consider looking to your own personal well-being. Have you been working too hard or playing too fast? Take a break from the everyday chores and reflect on the things that make you happy. Better still, do all of that from the comfort of a Spa. Who said resolutions are hard work?
Hold the Phone!
Now this will be hard for some people with the way technology rules our lives; but we suggest that this year you set aside the time to take a phone-free day. Challenge yourself to leave your phone at home and get out and about into the world without any of the usual distractions of social media or work calls. This is you-time after all.
Sleep More
That’s it. Sleep. More. Well, if you insist! The benefits of this are pretty self explanatory, so I won’t bore you with them. I’ll just say goodnight and sweet dreams and enjoy a little bit of extra snooze time to refresh yourself.
Appreciate the Small Things
Try to remove the focus in life from what you don’t have and instead focus on what you do have. Write a list of all the things you are grateful for in your life and when you’re feeling down, take a look and cheer yourself up. Make this a long term habit and you’ll be walking around with a grin on your face for as long as you keep it going. Forever, hopefully!
Be More Decisive
Make things easier on yourself and be more decisive about the small things in life. Some of the big decisions might take a lot more effort and energy, so why waste time on the smaller decisions like where to eat or what to wear. Make a decision and stick to it. More time for thinking about the important stuff.
Do What You Love this New Year
Don’t waste time doing things you hate. I mean, we all have responsibilities and they aren’t always easy to change. However, outside of those, don’t force yourself into situations that make you unhappy. This is not the easiest resolution to keep but is totally worth it to enjoy absolutely ALL of your free time. Make this new year all about doing what’s right for you.
New Year’s 2019 is going to be a good one. So laugh, drink, love and be merry. Here’s wishing you a Very Merry Christmas and an even happier and more relaxed New Year! – from The Team at The Chapel Bar!
